The Mystery Jets
Overjoyed that one of my best friends when I was a youngster is getting rave reviews for his band’s latest album (Mystery Jets - Twenty One) - e.g. DrownedInSound
Nice one Kai!

- Mystery Jets
- So in a previous post I prop'd a collection of glitchy electronica, breaks, IDM and D&B - time now for something a lot softer. Way back in the day, one of my best friends at school was a guy name Kai Fish. We've gone our separate ways, but it warms my heart to see him hitting success with his band, The Mystery Jets. They've already played huge festivals and built a massive following, and with Stereogum announcing that they're eagerly awaiting the new album, well... 2008 could be even bigger. I really encourage you to have a listen to their latest song, Flakes - a loving nod to Jeff Buckley's amazing, if brief, contribution to music. Mystery Jets at Myspace del.icio.us Tags: music...
- Friends Reunited
- Kai Fish, the bassist/keyboard/accordion player from ultra-trendy, uber-cool folk rock/pop band the Mystery Jets, was one of my closest childhood friends before we grew apart and I moved to another secondary school. So it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience to be reunited last night after the 'Jets played an awesome gig right here in Oxford last night (they're touring to accompany their new album, Twenty One, which as I previously mentioned, is getting rave reviews). We chilled backstage and moved onto the afterparty at one of Oxford's many minor marvels, the Hi-Lo Jamaican Eatery (a dark, dusty, warm, ancient establishment run by a comically intoxicated, frizzled rastafarian and his doting wife). We were almost half our current age when we last saw one another - there was many a story to tell (especially from him, the touring charttopping musician!) and reminiscence to be had. It's a joy to be alive!...
